The National Road museum tells the story of Rt 40 which was Americas first highway.  There are many artifacts on display from the time and a diorama which shows how the road crossed Ohio.

 

The site is maintained by the Ohio Historical Society.

Zane Grey wrote over 80 books and is known as the father of the modern western. He also indulged his passion for history and travel so the collection has a fascinating collection of artifacts for the early 19th century from all over the globe.

The museum is located in Norwich right off Rt 40 at 8850 east pike street. Pike street is also Rt 22 and the national rd. If you exit rt 70 at mile marker 164 you will se signs for the museum.

It has a large paved lot and is a modern museum with good facilities. There was no food on site but I remember a vending with drinks and snacks.
