This one is out of print but copies can be found in several libraries and copies may be at the OHS sites. The journals of the society are online now and the link connected to this takes you to their site. The also have some great books for flint hunters.

This issue covers the excavation of Ft Laurens and several other Ohio sites. Its a fun read but has some very graphic pictures of the excavations ; I wouldn't show it to my young nieces.  There is an amazing picture of a skull from a scalping victim; it wasnt a gentle or pretty process.

This is a CD rom product covering early Ohio Maps.  Since the Mound builders people have been moving the geography of Ohio. Rivers and lakes have been created and moved. These maps make it easier to find sites or understand why they are gone.

If you are interested in Railroads this collection has the maps of them going back to the beggining.  The link in this picture goes to their site they have a few free downloads.

I really like this authors approach; what is he has done is provided his source material. There are copies of old maps, journals and diaries, he then provides some analysis as well. His approach lets you read the material and begin to form your own idea of what happenned.

I have included the Amazon link here, but the best way to get this book is to meet the authour. I met him at The Great Trail Festival and after talking to him had to buy the book. This is one I use allot.

Pontiacs Rebellion rarely gets much mention in Ohio History texts. I got this one while I was researching Boquets Trail. It covers this event extremely well and is very well illustrated annotated. It reads well and works as a reference as well.

I enjoyed this one; Im an Ohio Native and took Ohio History in Jr. Jogh school. I really dont remember this story being told. Ohio was actively involved in the Revolutionary War and here is the story.

Alan Fitzpatrick does a great job telling the story . My copy is autographed and I believe I got it at Ft Laurens. He does speaking engagements and is fun to see.

Alexander McKee was a pivotal figure on the Fronitier in the late 1700's. He started companies and mediated many treaties. His Father was a trapper and his mother a member of the Shawnee nation. He understood both cultures and was used as a mediator and translator Frequently.

Lewis Wetzel was an interesting figure on the Ohio Frontier. This book includes some very detailed reading on him.

The Best Book on Morgans Raid. This story should be told more often. A confederate raid on Ohio and the furthest north they got.

All the Ohio troops were fighting in the south so Morgan rode through Ohio hoping to get some of the troops withdrawn from the south to protect Ohio. He was finally captured near East Liverpool Ohio.

Fifteen McCooks served in the military, six reached the rank of Brigadier General or more.  Its a great story and this book is well Illustrated and does a good job telling it.

Covers The Ohio regiments at the Battle of Gettysburg.  Very well researched and Illustrated. I had a chance to speak with the authour at the Zoar Civi War Reactment. I usually ask authours why I should buy their book, Richard Baumgartner showed me things in the book and sold it too me. It enjoyed the chat and still reference the book.

This is a collection of primary sources used to research the war. It straight from the horses mouth and the letters and journal entries give you a good sense of what it was really like.
